Moving from today's insurance system to tomorrow's possibilities

This website is an independent forum for examining proposals to reform the American health insurance system, with particular attention to single-payer alternatives. A recent poll shows that 66% of Americans favor a national health plan in which everyone receives insurance from a single government plan. If that is the goal, what do we know about the options and how we get there? What is the impact of these various proposals for patients, clinicians, employers, insurers, and government?
